Take a moment to reduce stress
Mike Hedges AM is supporting Mental Health Awareness week, this
week.
This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, is focussing
on stress. Research has shown that 16 million people in
the UK experience a mental health problem each year, and stress is a key factor
in this.
By tackling stress, we can go a long way to tackle mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, and, in some instances, self-harm and suicide. We will look at how we can tackle stress and help improve our mental health.

The Mental Health Foundation, who host the week,
have put together a guide, with an introduction to what stress is, what the
signs of stress are, what simple steps you can take when feeling stressed and
provide practical advice for preventing it.
During Mental Health Awareness Week, they will be
calling for change - for a less stressed nation. They also want to strengthen
people’s ability to handle the pressures of life. During This week, they will
be producing blogs, films and resources as well as a ground
breaking report on stress.
Mike Hedges AM said “Mental Health awareness week
is an opportunity to focus everyone’s attention on stress and the impact stress
can have on our mental health. I imagine that most residents in (Name
constituency) will recognise the symptoms of stress and how our busy and highly
connected lives often make stress more of a constant.
“I congratulate the Mental Health Foundation on
producing this guide, on simple ways to manage and reduce stress. We
would all benefit from taking a look, I and my staff will certainly be taking
time to do this.”
